The bathroom scale. Probably one of the most avoided objects in a home, coming in a close second to that old treadmill in the basement collecting dust that you can't get rid of because "some day you might use it again". Then one day you decide...it's time. No more excuses that you just ate, or that it was your birthday last week, so you had more sweets than usual. You pull out your scale that's been in hibernation for months? Years? You can't remember. You step on it carefully, thinking that if you don't put all your weight on it at once, that somehow it will be "more accurate". You hold your breath, thinking of a number in your head. You think, "As long as I haven't past this I'm okay". And then you see it.

Oh my god, no way that's correct. My clothes wouldn't still fit if I weighed that. So you step off, then on again. This time it's 5 lbs more. "What?! No! Give me back the last number". Step off and on again. Now it's somewhere in the middle. Ugh. You know it's time. Time to put away the sweets, chips and extra helping of meatloaf. It's time for....a diet, and a scale that can make up it's mind.

I've had three kinds of scales over the past year during my own diet.

Scale type #1: Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies.
Usually the old model of scales that have been stored under the bathroom sink for 10 years. They have a spinning dial that goes from zero to whatever in 5 minutes flat. If you lean one way or the other, you can be an extra 3 lbs lighter. This type of scale never misses a chance to compliment by telling someone they are about 10 lbs less than they really are. These are wonderful, until you get weighed at the doctors office and see the real numbers.

Scale type #2: I just can't make up my mind.
You step on it once and get a number, then again just seconds later and you've gained 7 lbs. This scale is best for those learning math and how to calculate averages. Weigh yourself 10 times, add the numbers together and divide by the number of times you weighed yourself. The answer should be your correct weight. Or not.

Scale type #3: Just the facts ma'am.
The scale that tells you the truth every time. Even when it hurts. But it sticks with you through you're whole diet, and is there beside you at every success and failure. You won't get along at first. It knows when you had 3 slices of cake at the office party, and it will point it out the next day. But stick with it, and in the end this kind of scale will be your best friend. You will step on it one day and it will proclaim that you did it, you reached your goal. And there won't be any doubt in your mind, because it's never lied to you.

This Surpahs scale is a type 3. It will be your brutally honest diet partner from day one. But when you step on it, you'll know it's accurate. The glass is strong and meant to hold the wight of all kinds of people. Without even thinking about it breaking, my husband used it to weigh our 3 dogs recently. To do this, he had to hold the dogs and step on the scale himself. He weighs about 205 and our largest dog weighs about 80 lbs. So that was 285 lbs on the glass and it didn't phase it. Only after they stepped off did I think about it being almost 300 lbs on a small clear glass plate. But it held up like a champ. So I can vouch for it being able to hold at least 285 without any problems.

It's a beautiful and accurate scale that will go with any decor and has a very modern look to it. I find the design sharp and eye catching, and much more appealing to leave out in my bathroom than the typical plastic scale. Very nice.
