The lid has ribbon on it so that it doesn't fall all the way back when you open it. Nice velour cushions and interior. Great size. I couldn't be more pleased. It looks stylish, and expensive. I love the clear cover so I can easily see all the items. Husband says it could also be used for collecting mini football helmets (or the sport of your choice).
