A few things you should know first: the tips are actually stored in the middle section on the back of the unit (it took me a bit of looking to realize where they were). Also, make sure you test at least 20 minutes after drinking since it takes that long for alcohol to be absorbed into your bloodstream. Once you are ready to test, turn on the breathalyzer and the LED screen will light up and go into a 15 second Warm Up mode. After that you will be prompted with the Blow logo to blow into the unit within 10 seconds. You only need to blow for 2-3 seconds. IIf your readings are too high you will get an alarm sound in addition to the danger display on the device. The breathalyzer comes with it's own drawstring carry bag so you can carry it discreetly in your purse or glove compartment.

I think it needs to be said that one shouldn't rely wholly on a piece of equipment in making the decision whether or not to drive. There is always a chance that it is reading you incorrectly and that could cost lives. If there's any doubt, one should call a cab or have a driver etc... But this product can certainly be helpful in making an informed decision.
